The Brief

DIY DEPOT commissioned SA Event Decor to create a sophisticated and glamorous setting for its corporate gala dinner in the Bill Gallagher Room at Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg. The brief called for a modern, inviting dining environment that would combine elegance with contemporary styling. The design needed to complement the venue's expansive ballroom and floor-to-ceiling windows without making the space feel visually heavy. A cohesive combination of reflective silver finishes, transparent furniture, refined table settings and atmospheric candlelight would establish the desired aesthetic, creating a memorable gala dinner environment for guests.

The Décor & Execution

SA Event Decor transformed the Bill Gallagher Room at Sandton Convention Centre through a carefully coordinated modern glamour concept. Dining tables were dressed in heavily sequined silver linens, complemented by transparent acrylic chairs with white cushions.

Glass candle-cylinder centrepieces formed the focal point of each table, surrounded by soft green floral arrangements and mirrored metallic details. Layered white place settings, polished cutlery and green-tinted glassware introduced subtle contrast to the silver palette.

As evening approached, candlelight reflected across the sequined linens and glass surfaces, creating a warm, sophisticated atmosphere. The transparent furniture preserved the openness of the ballroom, allowing the venue's floor-to-ceiling windows and Johannesburg cityscape to remain visible.

The completed gala décor brought together contemporary styling, reflective textures, floral details and atmospheric lighting to create an elegant, cohesive dining experience for DIY DEPOT.
