01 / The Brief
The Alexforbes Awards Gala Dinner required a setting that recognised corporate achievement while supporting dining and networking. The design needed to complement Kievits Kroon’s country character and retain the formality of an awards occasion.
SA Event Decor approached the brief through material contrast: structured place settings established order, while timber, woven details and botanical arrangements introduced warmth. This balance carried the corporate occasion into the estate setting without imposing an unrelated decorative theme.
02 / The Décor Execution
Whitewashed wooden tables established the foundation, layered with textured runners and dark wooden charger plates. Sage napkins and woven napkin rings extended the natural palette into each place setting.
Cacti and succulents in terracotta pots formed the botanical centrepieces. Driftwood introduced irregular shapes and texture, while lanterns and candles added points of warmth across the tables.
White loop-back and cross-back chairs completed the furniture scheme. The combination of pale furniture, darker table accessories and earthy botanical details gave the dining area definition alongside the blue accent lighting and contemporary stage.
03 / The Venue Dynamics
The venue brought together a country estate setting, blue accent lighting and a contemporary stage presentation. The décor needed to connect these elements so the dining area and awards environment read as one event.
Warm materials and lantern light provided a visual counterpoint to the cooler room lighting. Repeated botanical details and coordinated table finishes gave the dining space continuity, while the formal place settings maintained its corporate character.
Venue Styling Insight
In a country estate venue, use consistent place settings to give natural materials a formal structure. Test sage fabrics, terracotta and timber under the actual event lighting before installation, as coloured lighting can change their appearance. Coordinate lantern and candle placement with the venue’s fire requirements and catering access.
