Trellidor commissioned SA Event Décor to transform Sears Court 1 & 2 at Sun City Resort, South Africa, into a vibrant Disco Safari experience for its 50th birthday celebration. The brief called for an energetic, contemporary interpretation of safari styling that moved away from traditional earthy tones in favour of bold tropical colours, oversized foliage, animal-print details and illuminated features. The design needed to create an immersive, visually engaging environment while accommodating the requirements of a large corporate celebration. A key challenge was balancing the playful theme with practical guest spaces, including lounge areas, cocktail seating, the bar and a central dance floor.

02 / The Décor Execution

SA Event Décor brought the Disco Safari theme to life at Sears Court 1 & 2, Sun City Resort, through bold colour, tropical styling and distinctive visual features. A custom tiger backdrop in vivid pink, blue, orange and yellow created a dramatic focal point, while a separate greenery feature wall displayed illuminated welcome signage framed by tropical flowers and foliage. White lounge furniture, colourful scatter cushions and leopard-print accents established relaxed seating areas, complemented by black coffee tables, illuminated cocktail tables and café-style seating. Palm installations added height and texture throughout the space, while the 5 m x 5 m black-and-white dance floor reinforced the disco identity of the celebration.

03 / The Venue Dynamics

Sun City Resort provided a large event space that allowed the Disco Safari concept to unfold across distinct guest areas. The open layout accommodated the main dance floor, lounge settings, cocktail furniture, bar and themed photo features. The décor strategy focused on creating visual impact without obstructing movement between these areas. The 5 m x 5 m black-and-white dance floor served as a central anchor, while the tiger backdrop and illuminated welcome greenery wall established strong focal points. Furniture placement and tropical foliage were carefully distributed to maintain accessible circulation and a comfortable guest experience.

For large corporate venues like Sears Court 1 & 2 at Sun City Resort, establish the dance floor as the central visual anchor before positioning lounge and cocktail furniture around it. Use statement backdrops and illuminated greenery walls to create distinct photo opportunities, while keeping tall foliage and furniture clear of main walkways to maintain comfortable guest circulation.
