Out Of Africa Theme

Overview

Mention Out of Africa, and it is doubtless that everyone immediately has a mental image of their favourite area on this continent, the magical African wide, wide skies, sounds and smells, possibly even the movie by that title.  This depicts a largely bygone era, when camps were set up with all the luxuries of the time, especially the dining experience. This bush camp adventure provided adequate lighting, tables with cloths, prepared meals served in style, all with the sight and sounds of the African night experienced from within the tent or around the camp fire.

This is the ambiance which SA Event Décor will create perfectly for you event. After all, you are in Africa, so make the most of this while we set up all you need to transport you away from the concrete jungle. This décor scheme can be set up inside a venue, or ideally, outdoors.

Pre Drinks Area

Welcoming drinks can be enjoyed around a roaring fire, boma style.  A fire always draws people together, and this is perfect to have your guests gather and mingle, once they arrive. Camp tables, covered with check cloths set with lanterns, add to the warmth of the welcome. Reed fencing around this area enhances the African feel, and ensures that this gathering point is cosy and intimate - an island of light, warmth and safety in the African night. Palms and foliage soften the setting, and a pathway, detailed with bamboo lanterns, more earthen pots, plants and reed elements, lead guests to the tented main venue.

Main Function Area

This is where your tented camp is pitched and set up, ready for you and your guests to dine and relax, in luxurious bush camp style.
The undulating contours of a white stretch tent provides the essential element to set the scene. The tent poles are also draped in white fabric, which softly pools onto the floor.
Fairy lights detail tent edges and add to the twinkling starlight in the night sky. Palms, potted foliage and pots containing tree branches draped in fairy lights are scattered at intervals throughout the tented area, and lanterns are held aloft on poles.

Tables and Chairs
Square tables are covered with pristine white cloths. White serviettes are classically folded into silver serviette rings.
The centre pieces enhance the camp theme and are beautifully effective and deceptively simple. Peach/orange organza is ruffled in the centre of the table, upon which a short candelabra is placed, having its base detailed with ostrich eggs.
Another wonderfully rustic centre piece option is a woven grass mat, upon which a lantern, calabash and mini baobab tree rests.

Canvas director's chairs provide comfortable themed seating around the dinner tables.

Towards the outer edge of the tent, a relaxation area is designed not only for guests to stretch their legs away from the dinner table, but also to further compliment the overall camp's purpose - a place where the day's activities are truly forgotten. A gazebo-like structure is gently draped in white and beige material, and the draping continues around the four corner poles, tied back with gold tasseled rope, as in the manner of bunched curtains.

Within the tented gazebo, black and red ottomans are placed upon an informal carpet - an inviting and striking addition to the African camp setting.

Please note that this theme (or any other) can be further customised, and SA Event Décor will be happy to discuss your creative idea and needs with you.
