Gala Dinner | Black and White

Black and White - direct opposites and the two colours which provide the greatest contrast of all.  No matter what fashion and current style dictates, black and white remains the quintessential, smart, elegant and sophisticated choice, whether "bling is in", or not.

This décor and colour scheme allows you to choose whether you wish to have all dining tables dressed identically, or in varying combinations of black and white, giving you a repeat of  2 different tables in a most strikingly, elegant and sophisticated setting.

Kindly also note that SA Event Décor would be happy to vary the décor described below, or to customise your gala dinner décor entirely, in consultation with you.

Pre Drinks Area

The cocktail tables will be covered in black and white stretch fabric, uplit from within, providing a warm, inviting glow. In the middle of each table, a suitable centre piece, incorporating silver and/or crystal, enhancing the black and white concept, will be placed, with the addition of scattered white beads, rose petals or a touch of greenery to soften the effect and add a splash of colour.

A portion of the pre-drinks area may optionally be set aside for photographs to be taken. A suitable backdrop will be provided.  A full bar can also be placed in the pre-drinks area, should you so choose.

Entrance Area

A draped entrance or a tunnel to the main area can be created using black and white draping  fabrics, uplit from within, and/or with draped fairy lights to add silver sparkle.  A subtly beaded curtain and white beaded trees focus on the twinkling entrance's elegance and provides a clear, crisp entry point for guests.

Main Function Area

All the walls will be draped in long black, fire-retardant treated material.  In front of this draping, SA Event Décor will artfully arrange sections of white draping, pulled together into softly gathered curtains, tied with decorative  silver ropes and tassels. Fairy lights draped across the ceiling may optionally be included.

Tables and Chairs

The main tables will be dressed in 2 different base taffeta colours - black and white.  This contrast ensures a stunning stylish and elegant setting, and the natural folds of taffeta subtly reflect light and shadow. Upon the table cloths, SA Event Décor will arrange a broad black (or white) taffeta runner, topped by a white (or black) narrower, flocked taffeta runner, which partially allows the wider runner's colour to show through.  To clarify - a white table cloth will have a broad black runner, topped with a white flocked runner, with the opposite coloured runners in the case of a black table cloth.

Centre pieces consist of a centrally placed round mirror, upon which a 1.2 metre tall candelabra with hanging crystals, will be placed.  On the mirror, at the base of the candelabra, detailing is effected with scattered white and crystal beads and rose petals.

Alternating with the tables carrying candelabras, we suggest a centre piece consisting of the round mirror, and upon it, a clear round vase, into which glass pebbles are placed.  This is topped with with an arrangement of densely bunched red rosebuds, from which subtle white willow twigs add height, without being intrusive to seated guests.  Bead detail is also added to soften the edges of the mirror.

As an alternative, SA Event Décor can provide a more natural looking option - upon the round mirror, detailed with white and crystal beads, natural-coloured pebbles are placed centrally, with a subtle , informal touch of red flowers/roses, and a bit of green foliage, seeming to sprout from within and around the stones.
Silver underplates highlight each place setting, with double folded black serviettes (or white), detailed with white organza ribbon, rest on each underplate. (Black serviettes throughout are recommended, since the creative double folding and contrasting ribbon detail are most effectively displayed on black serviettes).

All chairs will be dressed in black covers with a broad, white organza sash tied creatively around the chair back.
